Back in 1919 David Smith, Woody’s grandfather, opened an automobile dealership in Rexburg, Idaho. Eventually David opened a dealership in Idaho Falls with only two cars! Business grew with every happy customer. In time Woody’s father, Albon Smith, moved the family business to the corner of Homes and North Yellowstone, where it is currently located and known as Smith Chevrolet.
Woody grew up watching his father and grandfather. He learned how important it is to provide quality customer service and to build lifetime customers. He worked for many years as the service manager of the dealership. Finally, in 1988, Woody followed in his forefather’s steps and opened Woody’s Automotive in Idaho Falls. Ten years ago, Woody expanded the Smith name by purchasing a Ford dealership. By so doing, he once again, after nearly 85 years, brought the hometown feel of a Smith dealership back to Rexburg, Idaho.
